South Texas College’s Technology Campus Library Art Gallery is proud to present “Glitch: From the Failure of a System to a Supernatural Humankind,” an exhibit featuring comic book drawings and paintings by artist and writer Omer Garcia III. The exhibit opens Friday, Nov. 13 with an Art Talk at 10 a.m. The exhibit will be on view through Friday, Dec. 11, 2009 at STC’s Technology Campus Library Art Gallery located at 3700 W. Military Hwy. in McAllen. Admission is free and open to the public.

Garcia is an art instructor at South Texas College. He was born and raised in Alamo, TX, and earned his Masters of Fine Arts from The University of Texas-Pan American.

The exhibit focuses on Garcia’s comic book character and alter ego, named “Remo Nava,” who is the ever-powerful “Glitch.” After being hit in the chest by an orb, or symbiotic life form from outer space, Glitch becomes a super hero. All artworks within the exhibit are reflections and manifestations of this story entitled “Glitch: Epoch Fire.”

“This story is about a character who finds himself in a state of re-discovery, identity and rebellion,” said Garcia. “It is also about awareness and a fight against illiteracy.”

South Texas College’s Library Art Gallery Program exhibits regional, national and international artwork, explores new visions and theories of creativity, and introduces innovative artistic expressions to the South Texas region.
